What it is
The lower jaw: a horseshoe body carrying the teeth, two vertical rami ending in the condyles, and the angle between them at the gonion. The chin (symphysis), the mental foramina on the body, the antegonial notch just in front of the masseter, and the ramus are the landmarks the lower face is read and built on.
How the Codex reads it
Install builds its anchors here, on bone: chin length, chin projection, the pre-jowl region and gonial width on the ramus, each only on its own indication. Link then runs superficially along the border from the angle toward the chin. READ item A4 reads the lower face (chin length, chin projection, jawline continuity, the angle at rest) and A1 reads the bigonial-to-bizygomatic ratio. Width is a deep move on the ramus; edge is a superficial move along the border. They are never substituted for one another.
