Zygomatic bone

How the Codex reads it
Base is built here, on bone: a lateral ledge, never a peak. Its signature is the OGEE, one continuous arc on three-quarter view from the lateral edge into the malar peak and down into the submalar shadow. Base runs by default whenever BUILD is indicated and is never withheld, only reduced. READ item A3 reads the OGEE; A1 reads the bizygomatic width.

The transverse facial artery runs below the arch across the masseter; the zygomatic (McGregor's) ligament tethers skin to the arch at its junction with the body. Staying on bone keeps the lateral temporal-cheek fat and its vessels superficial to the work.
